Everton midfielder Izzy Christiansen has today signed a new two-and-a-half-year deal with the club according to reports on The Blue Girls’ official website.
The 29-year-old Macclesfield-born England international joined Willie Kirk’s side for a second time last year and she has gone on to be a key member of the team.
Everton boss Kirk has been keen to retain Christiansen’s services for the long term and it has today been confirmed that the player has agreed to sign a contract extension which will keep her at Walton Hall Park until summer 2023.
Christiansen has featured in all 12 of Everton’s fixtures in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League so far this season, scoring four goals. The midfielder was most recently on target in the 4-0 victory over bottom club Bristol City at Walton Hall Park, a game which saw her net a brace.
Everton initially signed Christiansen in her youth and the player went on to make her senior debut for The Blues Girls in 2008. Christiansen soon moved to Birmingham City where she spent five years before later going on to play for Manchester City and European heavyweights Lyon.
Christiansen will be hoping to help her club return to winning ways on Sunday when they travel to The Madejski Stadium to take on Reading in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League.
