Chelsea midfielder Sophie Ingle has signed a new two-and-a-half-year deal with the club according to reports on The Blues’ official website.
The 29-year-old Welsh international midfielder is in her second spell with The Blues after initially representing the club between 2012 and 2013.
Ingle has appeared in all-but-one of Chelsea’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixtures so far this season and with the player being a key member of Emma Hayes’ side, the club have now agreed fresh terms with her.
After spending her youth with Welsh sides Vale Wanderers and Dinas Powys, Ingle launched her senior career with Cardiff City Ladies where she spent five years. Her move to Chelsea followed before Ingle later went on to represent successful Bristol Academy and Liverpool sides. During her time on Merseyside, Ingle won the club’s Player of the Season award.
Since returning to Chelsea in 2018, Ingle has lifted the Barclays FA Women’s Super League title and FA Women’s Continental League Cup while she was also a member of the side which won the FA Women’s Community Shield in August after defeating Manchester City 2-0 at Wembley.
Ingle’s name went into the Chelsea history books earlier this season when she made her 100th appearance for The Blues in all competitions, a tally which will now grow over the next two-and-a-half years.
