Reading forward Brooke Chaplen has signed a one-year contract extension at The Madejski Stadium according to reports on The Royals’ official website.
The 31-year-old Portsmouth-born attacker is in her fourth year as a Reading player after joining the club back in 2017.
Chaplen has been battling illness for most of the season but she is still a valuable member of Kelly Chambers’ Reading squad and it has today been confirmed that the player will remain with the Berkshire club until summer 2022.
The player has made five Barclays FA Women’s Super League appearances for Reading this season, scoring her only goal in the 1-1 draw against Tottenham Hotspur in November. Chaplen has been sidelined so far in 2021 with her illness and is not yet thought to be in a position to resume full training.
The news of Chaplen’s new deal comes just days after goalkeeper Grace Moloney agreed to extend her contract at The Madejski Stadium for two more years. Both players are very much the heartbeat of the Reading side and manager Chambers is seemingly very keen to retain the core of her squad ahead of next season.
Reading return to Barclays FA Women’s Super League action on Sunday 7 March when they travel to bottom club Bristol City.
