A relegation six-pointer will take place on Sunday in the FA Women’s Championship as bottom club Coventry United play host to second-bottom side Charlton Athletic at the Butts Park Arena.
With both sides level on points with seven each, recording a victory this weekend is vitally important as both Jay Bradford and Riteesh Mishra look to guide their respective sides further towards safety. A win could also take either side into ninth place if London Bees lose to Liverpool in their game at Prenton Park.
Coventry United go into the match winless in seven FA Women’s Championship fixtures while they have won just twice all season including a 3-2 victory over Charlton Athletic in October’s reverse fixture. Bradford’s side have not scored in their last two games and she will be keen to see Coventry United begin to find the back of the net more regularly.
Charlton Athletic will have some new-found confidence going into the game after recording back-to-back draws against Blackburn Rovers and Liverpool. Charley Clifford’s 90th-minute penalty kick against The Reds last time out ensured that The Addicks leapfrogged Coventry United in the FA Women’s Championship table. Charlton Athletic have only won once all season in the league. That victory came back in September when they defeated Blackburn Rovers 1-0 at The Sir Tom Finney Stadium in Bamber Bridge.
Coventry United’s FA Women’s Championship fixture against Charlton Athletic kicks-off at 2pm on Sunday afternoon and will be streamed live on the home club’s official YouTube channel.
