Coventry United will be looking to end a run of nine league games without a win when they play host to London City Lionesses in the FA Women’s Championship on Sunday.
The Red and Greens defeated Charlton Athletic 3-2 away from home in October to secure their last win. Having been 2-0 down at half-time in that game, Jay Bradford’s side battled back to record a thrilling victory.
Melissa Phillips’ London City Lionesses on the other hand will also be looking for a return to winning ways, having had a three-game winning streak brought to an end by second-placed side Durham last weekend.
The last game between the two sides took place back in December, when goals from Lucy Fitzgerald and Kallie Balfour helped the Lionesses to secure a 2-0 win at Princes Park.
Both sides will be wanting to use this game as a way of gaining leverage on the sides above with them with The Pride able to go level on points with fourth-placed Liverpool should they secure all three points, whilst Coventry United will be looking to lift themselves off the bottom of the table by overtaking London Bees, who currently occupy 10th place.
Coventry United’s FA Women’s Championship fixture against London City Lionesses is scheduled to kick-off at 2pm on Sunday afternoon and will be available for fans to stream live via the CULFC YouTube channel.
