PREVIEW: Manchester City v Everton

Manchester City will be looking to continue to apply pressure on Barclays FA Women’s Super League leaders Chelsea when they face Everton at The Academy Stadium this afternoon.

Gareth Taylor’s side are currently enjoying an eight-match winning sequence in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League. As a result, The Cityzens find themselves just two points behind Chelsea with seven games remaining.

Manchester City head coach Taylor welcomed Janine Beckie and Keira Walsh back to his matchday squad in midweek and both of those players could be in contention for starts against Everton this afternoon. Demi Stokes and Gemma Bonner continue to be doubtful while long-term absentee Megan Campbell remains sidelined.

Everton manager Willie Kirk is expected to have a full compliment of players available to him other than midfielder Jill Scott. The England international is currently on-loan at Everton from this afternoon’s opponents Manchester City and is therefore ineligible to face her parent club. Defender Gabby George continues to make good progress on her match fitness and the player could again play a part after coming off the bench to feature against Tottenham Hotspur last weekend.

Manchester City’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture against Everton is scheduled to kick-off at 2pm and will be available for fans to stream live on the FA Player.
