Joe Montemurro hailed the impact of defender Lotte Wubben-Moy after she scored in The Gunners’ 2-0 victory over Manchester United at Meadow Park this evening.
The England international defender was effective in both boxes as she netted with a bullet header in the second half whilst also forming a strong partnership with makeshift centre-back Lia Walti at the other end of the pitch.
When speaking in the post-match press conference in which FAWSL Full-Time were present, Arsenal head coach Montemurro paid tribute to the defender, stating that there is much more to come from her in a red and white shirt.
“We are proud of Lotte for what she does and how she represents the club,” said Montemurro. “She’s true Arsenal but what I am loving is that in every training session and every game, she is just growing and growing.
“We haven’t seen the best of Lotte yet and she is an absolute treat to coach.”
Arsenal are now in control of their own destiny once again with The Gunners able to move into the third UEFA Women’s Champions League qualification place should they win their game in hand against West Ham United. Montemurro said that the offer of European football makes the club an even greater proposition when attracting new players.
“It is an attractive club, it is a club that people want to come to,” said Montemurro. “I think the higher that we play and being on the stage in Europe makes it all the more attractive from that perspective.
“Our aim is always to be in the upper echelon of European football and English football.
“We believe in what we are doing and we will continue to be there and continue to fight for those positions.”
With European qualification now in their own hands, Arsenal will turn their attentions to next Saturday’s North London derby. The Gunners travel to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to take on neighbours Spurs.
