Manchester City trio Abby Dahlkemper, Sam Mewis and Rose Lavelle and Manchester United’s Christen Press have been called up to the United States squad for next month’s European tour.
The Stars and Stripes will face Sweden in Stockholm on 10 April before taking on France in Le Havre on 13 April.
United States head coach Vlatko Andonovski named his 23-player squad for the upcoming double-header this afternoon with four Barclays FA Women’s Super League players named. FA Women’s Super League Full-Time were informed of the squad selection via an official US Soccer press release.
Manchester City trio Dahlkemper, Mewis and Lavelle have all been included, the latter off the back of winning the SheBelieves Cup MVP award for being recognised as the tournament’s most valuable player. There is also a place for Manchester United forward Press who netted two goals at the same tournament in February. Press’ Manchester United teammate Tobin Heath continues to be absent from the squad as she nurses an ankle injury which could keep her out of action for at least another month.
US Soccer have confirmed that all squad members will be required to follow strict COVID-19 protocols throughout the camp which include being tested for the virus before traveling, upon arrival and every two days thereafter. The United States will not begin full team training in Europe until the results of all arrival tests are confirmed.
