Charlton Athletic will be looking to turn draws into wins when they travel to London City Lionesses on Sunday for their latest fixture in the FA Women’s Championship.
New Addicks head coach Karen Hills is keeping her team in London this weekend, having faced Crystal Palace on Thursday night where Charlton Athletic were wounded by a 93rd-minute equaliser in a 2-2 draw. The win would’ve seen them move four points above 10th-placed Coventry United and six points away from relegation trouble.
Charlton Athletic will be hoping attacking midfielder Lois Heuchan can continue her form, after netting her fourth goal of the season at Hayes Lane on Thursday evening. She is just a goal behind the club’s top scorer Jess King.
As for London City Lionesses, last time out they were defeated 1-0 by Coventry United. The Pride failed to take their chances in that match and they will be keen for a more positive result against their neighbours Charlton Athletic.
This weekend’s game will be the home side’s last league game at Princes Park this season and Melissa Phillips’ side could top off the occasion by doing the double over their local rivals. The Lionesses were bang in form when they won 1-0 at Charlton Athletic in January but recent losses to Durham and Coventry United have halted the club’s impressive run.
London City Lionesses’ FA Women’s Championship fixture against Charlton Athletic is scheduled to kick-off at 4.30pm on Sunday afternoon and will be available for fans to stream live on the FA Player.
