PREVIEW: Birmingham City v Bristol City

Birmingham City and Bristol City will be looking to climb away from the relegation zone when they contest their latest fixture in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League on Sunday.

Carla Ward’s side are just three points above the drop zone while Bristol City managed to climb off the bottom of the league last week with a 1-1 draw away at Tottenham Hotspur.

Both clubs will be looking to secure their places in the top flight for next season. Birmingham City come into this one yet to achieve three points since the turn of the year, with their last league win coming away at local rivals Aston Villa in November. The Blues do return to their Stadium home for the first time in well over a month while they come into this one on something of a high having drawn 2-2 at West Ham United last time out thanks to a 94th-minute equaliser from Ruby Mace.

Bristol City are winless since they defeated Reading 3-2 at Ashton Gate at the beginning of March, although they did pick up a first positive result in three games last time out.

One player that could make the difference in this game is Bristol City’s top scorer, Ebony Salmon. The former Aston Villa and Manchester United forward has 10 goals to her name in all competitions this season and proved to be a super-sub in this fixture last season with her 75th-minute goal being the difference between the two sides in a 1-0 win.

Birmingham City’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture against Bristol City is scheduled to kick off at 4.00pm on Sunday and will be available for fans to stream live on the FA Player.
