Highly-rated Everton teenager Grace Clinton has signed her first professional terms with the club according to reports on The Blue Girls’ official website.
The 18-year-old midfielder has successfully graduated through the Merseyside club’s academy system to go on to appear for the senior side this season, five years on from initially joining The Blue Girls.
Clinton made her senior debut as a second half substitute in Everton’s 6-0 victory over Aston Villa at The Banks’s Stadium in October and she has since added a further seven first team appearances to her tally. Three of her eight outings have been starts.
With Clinton set for a promising future in the game, Everton have moved to secure her services and it has today been confirmed that the player has signed her first professional deal with the club. The midfielder’s deal will initially run for two years until the end of the 2022/2023 season.
Upon signing her deal, Clinton told Everton’s official media channels “Everton have always looked after me and I’ve loved my time here.
“It’s a great place for a young player. I’m so grateful to be offered this first pro contract and I am delighted to sign it.”
Today’s news is a boost for manager Willie Kirk who is looking to build a successful Everton side for years to come. Retaining the services of one of the most talented young players in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League can only be seen as a real positive. Kirk has put his faith in Clinton this season and she has repaid her manager with some bright performances.
