PREVIEW: Reading V Tottenham Hotspur

Reading and Tottenham Hotspur will begin their respective Vitality Women’s FA Cup campaigns when they meet in a fourth round tie at The Madejski Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Kelly Chambers previously guided her Reading side to the semi-finals in 2019, where they unluckily lost to West Ham United on penalties at Adams Park. Having now returned home to The Madejski Stadium, Reading will be hoping to use this season’s Vitality Women’s FA Cup to invigorate their home form where so far in 2021, they’ve been winless.

The Berkshire side, currently sit in mid-table in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League and there is little left to play for other than final league placing, however, a potential cup run could provide Reading with some new-found motivation. Defender Molly Bartrip is set to return from suspension while Scottish international Emma Mitchell is also potentially set to be available following injury, providing manager Chambers with additional options.

Tottenham Hotspur travel to The Madejski Stadium without a win since 17 January when they ran out 1-0 victors away to West Ham United. Spurs head coach Rehanne Skinner is not thought to have any fresh injury concerns to contend with. Star full-back Ashleigh Neville has returned to training following injury, although Sunday’s fixture may come too soon.

The Vitality Women’s FA Cup fourth round tie between Reading and Tottenham Hotspur is scheduled to kick-off at 2pm on Sunday.
