West Ham United and Aston Villa meet at The Chigwell Construction Stadium in Dagenham this evening with both sides looking to take a step towards Barclays FA Women’s Super League safety.
The Hammers currently find themselves in 10th position in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League table, just two points above bottom club Aston Villa. Both sides have five games to ensure that they remain in the top flight next year.
West Ham United go into the match without long-term absentees Lois Joel, Leanne Kiernan and Adriana Leon. Goalkeeper Mackenzie Arnold has returned to fitness and manager Olli Harder will have to decide whether to field the Australian international or either Courtney Brosnan or Emily Ramsey in goal.
Aston Villa interim manager Marcus Bignot rested several of his regular starters for his side’s 8-0 defeat to Manchester City at The Academy Stadium in the Vitality Women’s FA Cup on Saturday. Amongst those players who are expected to return to the starting XI this evening are Lisa Weiss, Anita Asante, Chloe Arthur, Marisa Ewers and Mana Iwabuchi.
West Ham United’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture against Aston Villa is scheduled to kick-off at 6pm and will be broadcast live on BT Sport 1.
