‘What an opportunity for us’ – Manchester City boss Taylor comments on huge Chelsea clash

Manchester City head coach Gareth Taylor says that tomorrow night’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture against Chelsea offers his side a huge opportunity.

City go into the match just two points behind Chelsea and victory would see them leapfrog the current Barclays FA Women’s Super League champions into top spot with just two games to go.

When speaking in his pre-match press conference, City boss Taylor said that the game provides his team with a huge opportunity to take a step towards winning the league title.

“That’s where we wanted to get to in early February when we beat Arsenal and came back to The CFA and beat Manchester United on the Friday,” said Taylor. “That was when we saw that there was hope, there was an opportunity that if we looked after our own end it would be in our hands.

“To get to this moment has not been easy with a lot of football having been played since then but to now be there in this moment is fantastic and what an opportunity for us.”

Many expect the winners of tomorrow night’s game to be this season’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League champions and while Taylor admits that those assumptions are likely, he maintains the fact that there will still be more football to be played.

“It looks that way but there is still football to be played after this game,” said Taylor when asked if the Chelsea result would decide the destination of the league title. “I’m sure that is what both coaches will be saying after the 90 minutes tomorrow that there is still a job to do.

“It’s a big game. I think we have shown amazing concentration and desire to get to this point so it is a massive well done to the players. Now we are here, we are excited, we wanted to have this opportunity and it is something that we are looking forward to.”

Manchester City’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture against Chelsea kicks-off at 6pm tomorrow night and will be screened live on BT Sport 1.
