Rumoured Manchester United target Vilde Bøe Risa has signed for Norwegian club Sandviken IL according to reports on their official club website.
The 25-year-old Norwegian international midfielder was said to have held preliminary talks with Manchester United over a move to The Leigh Sports Village in February according to press reports back in her homeland.
Bøe Risa has been without a club since leaving former side Kopparbergs/Göteborg FC upon the expiry of her contract in December. The player is thought to be keen to test herself overseas with a move to England being a real possibility but no deal has materialised with a club abroad, largely due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
During her time without a club, Bøe Risa has been training with hometown club Sandviken IL. With the player remaining a free agent, it has today been confirmed that she has signed for the club ahead of the 2021 Toppserien season which begins on 22 May. Full details of Bøe Risa’s contract at the Stemmemyren Idrettsplass have not been disclosed, however, it is believed that Sandviken IL will not stand in the midfielder’s way should she have the opportunity to move overseas at a later date, potentially leaving the door open for a move to the Barclays FA Women’s Super League.
Bøe Risa is said to be a big Manchester United fan with the player having supported the club from a young age. She tested herself against the blue side of Manchester earlier this season when she turned out for Kopparbergs/Göteborg FC in their UEFA Women’s Champions League round of 32 tie against City, scoring in the first leg.
