Crystal Palace have announced the news that midfielder Aoife Hurley will take some time out from the game.
The 24-year-old is stepping back from the game to focus on other matters, although the decision is not expected to signal an end to her playing career.
Hurley joined The Eagles at the start of the 2019/2020 season and the player has become an important member of manager Dean Davenport’s side. The player has made 21 appearances for Palace in the FA Women’s Championship over the course of the last two seasons while Hurley was a member of the side which reached the quarter-finals of the FA Women’s Continental League Cup for the first time this season.
Palace confirmed that Hurley will be taking a break from the game in a post on their official club Twitter account this morning.
We would like to say a MASSIVE THANK YOU to @Aoife_Hurleyy who has decided to take some time out to concentrate on other things. Aoife has been a constant in the team this season and a true professional. We will miss you – donβt be a stranger!π΄π΅π¦ #CPFC pic.twitter.com/CjgeVoLxJK

Hurley is a very experienced player at FA Women’s Championship level. The player has spent her entire career to date playing at that level during spells with London Bees, Aston Villa and latest club Palace. The midfielder’s contract at Hayes Lane was due to expire at the end of the season with Hurley having penned an 18-month contract extension with The Eagles back in January 2020.
Palace end the FA Women’s Championship season with a fixture against Lewes at Hayes Lane on Sunday afternoon.
