Liverpool defender Taylor Hinds is available for The Reds’ final FA Women’s Championship game of the season against London City Lionesses this weekend with the player’s ban having been overturned.
The full-back was dismissed late on in her side’s 1-0 win over Sheffield United at The Technique Stadium on Sunday.
Hinds was given a red card when being adjudged to have handled the ball when under pressure from Sheffield United forward Melissa Johnson in the box. A penalty was then awarded with Liverpool keeper Rylee Foster coming to the rescue as she denied Jade Pennock from 12 yards.
Liverpool have today revealed that they lodged an appeal with The Football Association against Hinds’ dismissal and following a review by the authorities, it has been determined that the defender was pushed by Johnson. The red card and subsequent suspension have now been rescinded and Taylor is free to play against London City Lionesses on Sunday.
Amber Whiteley’s side have been in excellent form since their last FA Women’s Championship defeat in January and they are currently enjoying a seven-match unbeaten run in the league. The Reds will claim a third-place finish with a positive result against The Pride while they could yet leapfrog Durham into second should The Wildcats slip up against Coventry United.
