Goalkeeper Shae Yanez has signed on at FA Women’s Championship club London City Lionesses for another season.
The 23-year-old joined The Pride last summer and she has since made the first choice goalkeeping position her own.
With head coach Melissa Phillips having committed her future to London City Lionesses this week, the work now begins on retaining the services of the club’s key players. The Pride have announced via their official club website this afternoon that goalkeeper Yanez has become the first player to sign a contract extension for next season.
The American keeper moved to London City Lionesses following a spell with National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) club Washington Spirit and she has appeared in every FA Women’s Championship game this season. Yanez has kept seven clean sheets in 22 games in all competitions.
Speaking after signing her new deal, Yanez said “I’m really excited to be continuing my journey here at London City Lionesses. A lot of things are going in the right direction and we must continue to grow and compete each and every day.
“I’m looking forward to another great year to develop as both a player and most importantly, a person.”
London City Lionesses end their season with an away fixture at Liverpool on Sunday.
