Arsenal full-back Katie McCabe has signed a new long term contract with the club according to reports on The Gunners’ official website.
The 25-year-old Republic of Ireland international joined the North Londoners back in 2015 and she has since made the full-back position her own, showing great defensive resilience along with lots of creatively in attack.
McCabe has enjoyed arguably her best season so far in an Arsenal shirt with the player scoring four goals and providing 12 assists in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League, her goal creation tally can only be equalled by Manchester City forward Chloe Kelly.
With McCabe being a key part of the Arsenal jigsaw, the club have moved to secure her services and it has today been announced that the player will remain at Meadow Park for the long term after agreeing to extend her current deal.
McCabe started her career back home in the Republic of Ireland with St Francis before moving to Raheny United who she represented in the first Women’s National League (WNL) season. After spending four years with The Pandas, McCabe joined Shelbourne before quickly earning her big move to England with Arsenal.
After initially playing her football in a more attacking position for The Gunners, McCabe has since found her home on the left side of the Arsenal defence and she has become one of the Barclays FA Women’s Super League’s top left-backs.
