Chelsea have this morning confirmed that they have agreed a deal with PSV Eindhoven which will seen Dutch international defender Aniek Nouwen join the club when the transfer window reopens.
The 22-year-old Helmont-born centre-back is one of the most highly-rated young Dutch players and she will now get the opportunity to test herself in one of the best leagues in the world with Barclays FA Women’s Super League champions Chelsea.
Chelsea have confirmed the deal on their official club website with Nouwen signing a three-year contract with the South West Londoners.
The defender has been a member of successful Dutch youth teams prior to making her senior international debut for The Orange Lionesses in March 2019. She has gone on to be capped by her country on 14 occasions at senior level while she scored her only goal in the nation’s 7-0 UEFA Women’s EURO 2020 qualifying victory over Estonia in October last year.
At club level, Nouwen has been on the books of PSV for five years and she has gone on to become one of the most important players for Sander Luiten’s side.
Nouwen becomes Chelsea manager Emma Hayes’ first signing of the summer as The Blues boss looks to maintain her side’s position as one of the very best teams in world football.
