PREVIEW: Arsenal v Crystal Palace

Joe Montemurro will take charge of Arsenal for the very last time this afternoon when The Gunners take on FA Women’s Championship club Crystal Palace in the fifth round of the Vitality Women’s FA Cup at Meadow Park.

Montemurro will return home to Australia after the match, bringing down the curtain on his three-and-a-half-year stay in North London.

Arsenal go into the match without long term absentees Fran Stenson, Jen Beattie, Viktoria Schnaderbeck and Lisa Evans while midfielder Malin Gut’s name has been added to the injury list with the player having ruptured her Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) in midweek. Dutch international Jill Roord could feature for Arsenal for a final time with the player having already agreed a move to German club VfL Wolfsburg in the summer.

Crystal Palace arrive in North London on the back of a slightly disappointing league campaign but their cup form has been impressive. Dean Davenport’s side reached the quarter-finals of the FA Women’s Continental League Cup for the first time this season while they breezed beyond London Bees in their fourth round tie in this season’s Vitality Women’s FA Cup. The Palace squad boasts much more talent than their final league placing suggests, particularly in attack, and Arsenal will have to throw some level of caution at the game.

The Vitality Women’s FA Cup fifth round tie between Arsenal and Crystal Palace is scheduled to kick-off at 3pm and will be available for fans to stream live on Arsenal.com
