PREVIEW: Chelsea v Everton

Chelsea will be hoping to put their UEFA Women’s Champions League final disappointment behind them when they take on Everton in the fifth round of the Vitality Women’s FA Cup at Kingsmeadow on Thursday evening.

The Blues were defeated 4-0 by Spanish giants Barcelona in Gothenburg on Sunday as they missed out on European football’s greatest prize.

Chelsea manager Emma Hayes is not thought to have any fresh injury concerns following that match with long term absentee Maren Mjelde set to be the only player missing from the squad to face Everton. Given the physical and mental strain that the hectic fixture schedule has put on her players, Hayes could opt for some squad rotation for the game against The Blue Girls.

Everton travel to Kingsmeadow looking to repeat their performance from last season’s quarter-final when they defeated Chelsea 2-1 at Goodison Park. Manager Willie Kirk will be without defender Danielle Turner who is recovering from surgery but Abbey-Leigh Stringer is likely to be available. Norwegian international defender Ingrid Moe Wold is set to make her final appearance before going into retirement.

The Vitality Women’s FA Cup fifth round tie between Chelsea and Everton is scheduled to kick-off at 7pm on Thursday evening and will be available for fans to stream live on the FA Player.
