Teenage midfielder Tamara Wilcock has signed a new contract with Sheffield United for the 2021/2022 campaign.
The 17-year-old made a successful step up into Neil Redfearn’s first team squad this season after playing a starring role for the club’s development squad.
Wilcock has impressed head coach Redfearn enough to be offered a new deal and Sheffield United have this afternoon confirmed via an official club press release that the player has signed on for the 2021/2022 campaign.
The youngster has been named as a substitute for Sheffield United in nine of their FA Women’s Championship games this season and the player was brought on for her debut against Crystal Palace in a 3-0 win at Hayes Lane last month. Wilcock played the final 11 minutes of the match in Bromley.
Speaking to Sheffield United’s media team after signing her new deal, Wilcock said “I’m really grateful to have been given this opportunity at my age. Since stepping up from the development team I’ve been able to challenge myself and it feels good to be around the girls with more experience as they have really helped me develop as a player.
“I’ve enjoyed my football up to now and I’m really looking forward to continuing my journey here at the club next season.”
Wilcock will now have her eyes firmly set upon establishing herself as a regular in the Sheffield United side next season as the club look to push for promotion to the Barclays FA Women’s Super League.
