Five Liverpool players will leave the club when their contracts come to an end this summer according to reports in The Reds’ official website.
It has been confirmed that Amy Rodgers, Jess Clarke, Kirsty Linnett, Becky Jane and Amalie Thestrup are all being released.
The news comes as no real surprise with Rodgers, Linnett, Jane and Thestrup having already revealed that they were leaving the club last week. It is understood that three of those players had new terms offered to them but those offers were later retracted.
All five players were regulars in the Liverpool side this season as the club recorded a third-place finish in the FA Women’s Championship. Thestrup was the most-used player, making 17 appearances and scoring four goals while defender Jane and midfielder Rodgers made 14 appearances. Forwards Linnett and Clarke were given 13 and 10 league outings.
Liverpool have also announced the departure of their goalkeeping coach Jen Herst. She is leaving the club to take up a position with the Football Association of Wales (FAW).
It promises to be a summer of change at Liverpool with the club having recently appointed a new manager in the form of former boss Matt Beard. The 43-year-old has been tasked with leading the club back to the top flight at the second attempt.
