Manchester United forward Tobin Heath has been called up by the United States as a training player for next month’s camp.
The Stars and Stripes will take on Portugal, Jamaica and Nigeria in a Summer Series tournament as their preparations for the Olympic Games in Tokyo step up another level.
Head coach Vlatko Andonovski has today named his 23-player squad for those international matches and while Manchester United forward Heath did not make the selection, US Soccer have confirmed that she will link-up with the squad as a training player as she looks to prove her fitness following long term injury.
Other than Heath, there is Barclays FA Women’s Super League representation in the United States squad. Manchester City defender Abby Dahlkemper has been included while Manchester United forward Christen Press has also made the cut.
United States head coach Vlatko Andonovski is expected to name his 18-player squad for this summer’s Olympic Games later this month with the upcoming international fixtures being the last opportunities for his players to prove their worth.
The United States will take on Portugal (June 10) and Jamaica (June 13) at the BBVA Stadium in Houston before opening the New Q2 Stadium in Austin with a fixture against Nigeria on June 16.
