Sheffield United have completed the signing of former Liverpool centre-back Sophie Bradley-Auckland on a one-year deal.
The 31-year-old Nottingham-born defender will return to playing football with The Blades next season after spending a year out working in her family-run care home.
Bradley-Auckland said her farewells to the Liverpool fans earlier today and Sheffield United have this afternoon issued an official club press release confirming the capture of the player.
The defender will initially spend next season with The Blades while the club have handed her the number 25 shirt.
Speaking after signing on at The Technique Stadium, Bradley-Auckland said “I’m really excited. As soon as I spoke to Redders and he mentioned about coming here, I knew once I was back this is where I’d be coming.
“I’ve been following all the games, chomping at the bit to get back. It will be nice to be back around a team environment and I’m just ready and raring to go.”
Bradley-Auckland links up with Sheffield United head coach Neil Redfearn for the third time in her career. She spent time playing under the West Yorkshireman at former club Doncaster Rovers Belles where the pair won the old FA Women’s Super League 2 title while they were again briefly reunited at Liverpool.
The defender is a former England international while she also represented Great Britain at the Olympic Games, London 2012. Bradley-Auckland brings top flight playing experience to Sheffield United following spells with Lincoln Ladies, Notts County and Liverpool.
