Coventry United have today confirmed that attacker Amber Hughes has left the club.
Hughes has played an important role for the Warwickshire club in their two years in the FA Women’s Championship and her departure will undoubtedly leave a hole in the squad which will need to be filled by manager Jay Bradford this summer.
Coventry United announced the player’s departure in a post on their official club Twitter account earlier today.

Hughes was one of just five Coventry United players to make 18 appearances in the FA Women’s Championship this season. She scored two goals which both came in The Red and Greens’ fascinating 3-2 victory over Charlton Athletic at The Oakwood in October. Those two goals can be added to Hughes’ goal tally of five from her first season in the FA Women’s Championship when she helped steer her side to a 10th-place finish on a points per game basis.
The forward is the fourth player to leave Coventry United during the close season. Veteran goalkeeper Sue Wood has opted to retire while midfielder Helen Dermody and forward Maz Gauntlett have already departed.
