Everton midfielder Clemaron confirms departure

Everton midfielder Maeva Clemaron has confirmed that she is leaving the club this summer.

The 28-year-old French international midfielder has spent the last two seasons with The Blue Girls in which she has made 22 appearances in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League.

As Everton prepare for a continued push up the Barclays FA Women’s Super League table next season, Clemaron has revealed that she will not be part of the club’s next chapter. She took to her personal Instagram account to break the news of her departure.

She said “My adventure with Everton has ended. I really want to say a massive thank you to all at the club.

“Everton gave me the opportunity to come to England and it was one of my dreams after getting my diploma few years ago to discover the UK, improve my game in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League and learn the culture of football and life.

“I particularly want to say thank you to my teammates for the last two years. I couldn’t imagine a better welcome and integration into the team, despite my lack of speaking English when I arrived. You were great and really patient with me so thank you again. I’m really thankful to you all and I’m happy to have played in and discovered the North of England. I’m also glad to have met some exceptional people and to have created some strong friendships.

“To finish, I want to say that I wish all the best to Everton, to their great fans and obviously to my teammates. Once a blue, always a blue!

“Thank you Toffees!”

During her time on Merseyside, Clemaron has helped Everton to record back-to-back top half of the table finishes in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League. The midfielder was also a member of the Everton squad which contested the 2019/2020 Vitality Women’s FA Cup final with Manchester City at Wembley.

Clemaron’s next career move has not yet been confirmed, however, the player could return home to France. She spent the first 11 years of her senior career playing in her homeland in spells with AS Saint-Etienne and FC Fleury 91 prior to her move to Everton.

Everton boss Willie Kirk is expected to add a number of players to his squad this summer including additions to the midfield areas.
