Three more players to leave Sheffield United as contracts expire

Sheffield United have confirmed that defenders Nom Hartley, Nat Johnson and Chloe Dixon will leave the club when their contracts expire at the end of this month.

The Blades have also reconfirmed the news that attacking trio Jade Pennock, Melissa Johnson and Katie Wilkinson are also leaving The Technique Stadium, those players had previously indicated that they would be leaving. Top scorer Wilkinson has since sealed a move to Sheffield United’s FA Women’s Championship rivals Coventry United on a free transfer.

Centre-back Hartley is the highest-profile name amongst the latest three scheduled departures. She was an ever-present for The Blades in the FA Women’s Championship this season, scoring two goals. Johnson featured in 13 league games for Neil Redfearn’s side while Dixon was handed 11 outings.

In other club news, January transfer window signing Bex Rayner is staying on for next season while long term absentees Alethea Paul and Ellie Wilson will also be members of the 2021/2022 squad. The pair have been sidelined for the last six months recovering from Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injuries.

Sheffield United will be looking to push for promotion to the Barclays FA Women’s Super League next season after finishing the 2020/2021 campaign in fourth place in the FA Women’s Championship table.
