Liverpool forward Thestrup agrees move to PSV

Liverpool forward Amalie Thestrup has joined Dutch Eredivisie-Vrouwen club PSV according to reports on their official website.

The 26-year-old Danish international forward had already announced that she was leaving Liverpool this summer at the end of her contract.

Thestrup joined Liverpool last summer following a spell with Italian club AS Roma. The player went on to score four goals in 17 FA Women’s Championship appearances for The Reds as they finished the campaign in third position.

The forward has now moved to The Netherlands for the next step in her career. Thestrup joins a PSV side who recently debuted in the UEFA Women’s Champions League while the club are one of the leading forces in the Dutch game.

After sealing her move to PSV, Thestrup told the club’s official media team “After speaking with PSV, I became very enthusiastic about this new challenge. PSV are a club who are competing for domestic silverware and play in the UEFA Women’s Champions League. It is a good move for me, one that fits my ambitions. I can’t wait to get started.”

Thestrup will link-up with her new teammates for the first time early next month when PSV begin their pre-season preparations for the 2021/2022 season.
