Liverpool re-sign former player Daniels following Bristol City release

Liverpool have completed the signing of Belgian international winger Yana Daniels following her release from Bristol City according to reports on The Reds’ official website.

The 29-year-old returns to Liverpool for a second spell after previously representing the club in the 2018/2019 campaign.

Daniels made 15 Barclays FA Women’s Super League appearances in her first spell on Merseyside, scoring one goal.

The winger’s move back to Prenton Park will see her link-up with her interim manager from former club Bristol City, Matt Beard. The 43-year-old left The Robins last month following their relegation from the Barclays FA Women’s Super League and filled the managerial vacancy at Liverpool. Winger Daniels was a regular starter for Beard in his three-and-a-half months at Bristol City.

Upon signing on at Liverpool, Daniels said “It feels good to be back. I enjoyed my time at Bristol City and it was a tough end to the season there.

“The style Matt plays just suits me, I like it and I just feel comfortable with the way he wants to play.

“To come back here and try to help put this club where it belongs, and the philosophy of Matt, just suits me. I believe that he can achieve something big here with his ability as a manager.

“I’m looking forward to meeting all the girls. There’s still a few around from a few years ago when I was here so it feels like home and I’m excited to meet the new players.”

Daniels becomes Liverpool’s second signing of the summer after the club added former West Ham United forward Leanne Kiernan to their ranks earlier this week.
