Manchester United have officially confirmed that forwards Tobin Heath and Christen Press have left the club.
The United States international pair spent one season at The Leigh Sports Village but they are now moving on at the end of their respective contracts.
United confirmed the news in a post on their official club website this afternoon. The announcement comes as no surprise. Rumours that the pair would move on have been ongoing for a number of weeks while both Heath and Press were listed as ‘unattached’ on the latest United States national team squad announcement yesterday.
In her time as a United player, Heath made eight appearances for the club in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League, scoring four goals. She netted in United’s 2-2 Manchester derby draw with Manchester City at The Leigh Sports Village in November. Her season was curtailed due to ankle and knee injuries.
Heath’s American teammate Press made 14 appearances for The Red Devils in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League this season. She also netted four goals. The player leaves United in flying form with Press being the outstanding performer for the United States national team in recent times.
Four forward players have now left United this summer. Jess Sigsworth and Jane Ross have also departed this week.
