West Ham United have completed the signing of versatile midfielder Zaneta Wyne from Scottish Women’s Premier League (SWPL) club Glasgow City according to reports on The Hammers’ official website.
The 30-year-old America-born midfielder returns to the English top flight three years on from leaving Sunderland.
Wyne is well-known to West Ham United manager Olli Harder with the pair having worked together at former club Klepp IL in 2018/2019. The player has been handed the number two shirt by the East Londoners while she becomes manager Harder’s second signing of the summer.
The midfielder is much-travelled after representing eight different clubs throughout her senior career to date. Wyne has played in the United States, Iceland, Finland, Norway and Scotland in addition to her short previous spell in the English game.
After joining West Ham United, Wyne said “I’m super excited to be joining West Ham United. I’m really pleased to be back in the Women’s Super League again and can’t wait to get started.
“I respect Olli a lot as a coach, he’s a good guy and works incredibly hard. I just want to play for him, so I’m looking forward to creating some new memories and hopefully bringing some success to the club.”
Wyne arrives in East London fresh from winning the Scottish Women’s Premier League (SWPL) title with Glasgow City while she also represented the club in the UEFA Women’s Champions League last season.
