London City Lionesses trio Murphy, Short and Pursey extend deals

London City Lionesses have announced that Alli Murphy, Hannah Short and Lilly Pursey have all signed new deals with the club.

Murphy and Short were both regular starters for The Pride while youngster Pursey is very much one for the future. Head coach Melissa Phillips sees the trio as important squad members for next season and she has therefore agreed new deals with the players.

Republic of Ireland international Murphy joined London City Lionesses last summer following spells in the United States, The Netherlands and Iceland. Despite being a recognised midfielder, she showed versatility in helping the club in a full-back role when needed. Murphy made 18 FA Women’s Championship appearances for The Pride, scoring one goal.

Centre-back Short has been with London City Lionesses since their inception, joining the club following a spell with Yeovil Town. The 28-year-old made 14 league appearances for The Pride last season, helping the club to record seven clean sheets.

Midfielder Pursey is one of the younger members of the London City Lionesses squad. She joined the club last summer after formerly being on Chelsea’s books. The teenager only made two FA Women’s Championship this season but there is undoubtedly more to come from the player.

London City Lionesses have now agreed new terms with 11 members of the 2020/2021 squad.
