Reading confirm signing of former Bristol City defender Bryson

Reading have completed the signing of former Bristol City defender Faye Bryson according to reports on The Royals’ official website.

The 24-year-old full-back has signed a two-year contract at The Madejski Stadium and she follows Bristol City teammate Gemma Evans to Berkshire with the centre-back having also become a Reading player yesterday.

Bryson played an important role in Bristol City’s failed survival bid last season. She featured for The Robins in 15 of their 22 Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixtures, scoring one goal.

After completing the capture of Bryson, Reading boss Kelly Chambers said “I am delighted to bring Faye to the club. She is a young player that is hungry to get better. She has great full back attributes which definitely fits our philosophy, and she is a difficult player to play against and is going to add to my backline this season.

“I know there is more to come from Faye and I believe in the right environment she could really blossom and that makes me excited to work with her.”

Bryson started her career with Everton who she captained in the 2014 FA Women’s Youth Cup final. She went on to make her senior debut whilst playing for The Blue Girls and she then spent more than four years in their first team environment. She will now be looking to really kick on in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League with latest club Reading.
