Bristol City duo Collis and Cook sign first professional deals

Bristol City youngsters Maisy Collis and Izzy Cook have signed their first professional deals with the club according to reports on The Robins’ official website.

The midfield pair were both in and around the first team squad last season, although they didn’t get the opportunity to impress with Bristol City having the important matter of having to contest a relegation battle.

With Bristol City set to play their football in the FA Women’s Championship next season, new interim head coach Lauren Smith has started work on putting down the foundations for her squad and she has determined that midfielders Collis and Cook will play parts. The club have therefore tied the players down with professional deals.

Collis was an unused substitute on 17 occasions in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League last season while she has made a small number of substitute appearances for The Robins so far in her senior career. Teammate Cook was handed her debut by former stand-in boss Gary Probert as Bristol City won 3-1 at Lewes in the FA Women’s Continental League Cup last November.

Bristol City have an excellent track record when it comes to producing the latest up and coming young talent. Their WSL Academy side has been packed full of emerging talent in recent years with a number of players gaining first team opportunities. That trend could continue with the club now set to play second tier football.
