Former Manchester City midfielder Tyler Toland has joined Scottish Women’s Premier League (SWPL) club Celtic according to reports on their official website.
The 19-year-old moves to the Glasgow giants on a free transfer after leaving former club Manchester City last month at the end of her contract.
Toland spent two years with Manchester City, although she was loaned out to Celtic’s city rivals Glasgow City last season who she represented in the UEFA Women’s Champions League. The player will get another opportunity to experience playing in European football’s premier competition this season with new club Celtic.
Speaking after securing her move to Celtic, Toland said “When I spoke to Fran (Alonso) I knew it was a perfect fit for me. The way he plays his football, his training and philosophy are definitely right for me, and Celtic’s obviously a massive club and you can’t turn that opportunity down.
“Having Champions League this season will be great, they finished second last season so they’re obviously looking to compete again for the league this season, so it’s just a really great environment. The way Celtic play their football really appealed to me and I’m really looking forward to it.
“I’m just going to work as hard as I can and hopefully help the girls win trophies and get as much success as we can.”
Toland made four appearances for former club Manchester City in all competitions, all of which came in her first year at The Academy Stadium. The player will now be hoping for real opportunity to impress with new club Celtic.
