Republic of Ireland defender Scott signs new Birmingham City deal

Republic of Ireland international Harriet Scott has become the first player to sign a new contract with Birmingham City this summer according to reports on the Blues’ official website.

The 28-year-old Reading-born full-back was one of 13 players offered new deals by Birmingham City at the end of last season and she is the first to accept the club’s terms.

It has been reported that Scott has signed on at St Andrew’s for two more years. The club are still awaiting news on whether nine other players will extend while Hannah Hampton, Sarah Mayling and Claudia Walker moved on last week after opting for fresh challenges.

After signing her new deal with Birmingham City, Scott said “I have been at Blues for three seasons, so Birmingham is my home. I’m really excited to have extended my stay for a few seasons. I couldn’t be happier right now.

“When you like the people, when you like the environment and it is a great stadium to call home. I’m fortunate enough that Blues have looked after me all the way through my education as well.

“It has been really difficult the past two years, but I hope we can see fans back in the stadium.

“It will be amazing to see and get as many bums on seats in the ground.”

Scott started her career at hometown club Reading who she joined at the age of eight. The player went on to make her senior debut for The Royals as a 16-year-old before helping the club win promotion to the top flight in 2015. The defender joined current club Birmingham City in 2018 and she has gone on to feature for the Blues on more than 50 occasions.
