Young Bristol City forward Woolley pens new deal

Young Bristol City forward Jesse Woolley has signed a new contract with the club according to reports on The Robins’ official website.

The 20-year-old has struggled with injuries in the last couple of seasons but she is hoping for a fresh start under new interim head coach Lauren Smith.

Woolley has today become the sixth player to dedicate her future to Bristol City’s push for an immediate promotion back to the top flight. The player joins Abi Harrison, Maisy Collis and Izzy Cook in signing a contract extension with The Robins while the club have signed Chloe O’Connor and Ava Kuyken.

After signing on again with Bristol City, Woolley said “Bristol City is a club close to my heart having come right the way through the player pathway and I’m delighted to sign a new deal with the club.

“The last couple of seasons have been tough for me on a personal level with injury. I’m grateful to be given this opportunity – I want to hit the ground running this season and show what I am capable of.

“Lauren (Smith) is a fantastic coach and I’m looking forward to developing under her guidance this season in the Championship.”

Woolley came through Bristol City’s player pathway after initially joining the club 13 years ago. The forward made nine senior appearances for The Robins in the top flight prior to the club’s relegation in May. The player netted her only senior goal so far in a 3-1 victory over Sheffield United in the FA Women’s Continental League Cup in 2018.
