Arsenal to take on Chelsea in The Mind Series at the Emirates Stadium

Arsenal have this morning confirmed that they will play Barclays FA Women’s Super League champions Chelsea in a pre-season friendly at the Emirates Stadium next month.

The game will take place on Sunday 1 August and will form part of ‘The Mind Series’ with the club’s men’s side also set to take on the Blues.

The women’s friendly fixture between Arsenal and Chelsea will kick-off at 12.15pm while the men’s meeting between the two sides will follow at 3pm. It is understood that the Emirates Stadium will be at near-full capacity, meaning that Jonas Eidevall’s side will have the unique opportunity to sell the women’s game to a large crowd.

Funds raised from ticket sales will be split between the Mind charity and Arsenal’s other club charity partners. The series will be for members only with no tickets being placed on general sale.

The fixture against Chelsea will act as preparation for Arsenal’s involvement in Round 1 of this season’s UEFA Women’s Champions League. The Gunners face a Round 1 semi-final tie against Kazakhstani side FC Okhetpes on 18 July before potentially taking on either PSV Eindhoven or Lokomotiv Moscow three days later in the final. Those ties will be played as one-off fixtures in Moscow.
