London City Lionesses complete impressive signing of former Brighton forward Jarrett

London City Lionesses have completed the impressive signing of former Brighton & Hove Albion forward Rianna Jarrett on a free transfer according to reports on the club’s official website.

The 27-year-old Wexford-born hotshot was released by Albion at the end of last season and she will now be looking to impress in the FA Women’s Championship with London City Lionesses.

Jarrett becomes London City Lionesses head coach Melissa Phillips’ first signing of the summer. With the player set to become the focal point of the club’s attack this season, Jarrett has been handed the number nine shirt.

While London City Lionesses were so often difficult to break down last season, the club struggled in attack at times. In Jarrett, The Pride have acquired the services of a confident goalscorer while her physical presence will be a constant problem for FA Women’s Championship defenders. Jarrett is also a player who can hold the ball up, bringing teammates into play in dangerous attacking positions.

Jarrett enjoyed her first full season as a professional last season and while she greatly improved her fitness levels, the forward will undoubtedly make a greater impact on the English game during her time with her new club.

After completing her move to Princes Park, Jarrett said “(I’m) really excited to get going with LCL, a club which is professional and moving in the right direction.

“I got a great feeling from talking to Melissa and her staff, and all the players have been welcoming. (I’m) looking forward to challenging myself in the league, and being pushed in the right direction.”

Jarrett becomes the third Republic of Ireland international to represent the London City Lionesses. She joins national team colleagues Hayley Nolan and Alli Murphy at Princes Park. The forward has made 14 appearances for The Girls in Green while she has netted one goal.
