Former Sheffield United attacker Chloe Dixon has joined Blackburn Rovers according to reports on the Lancashire club’s official website.
The 25-year-old was one of several players who left The Blades at the end of last season and the player will remain in the FA Women’s Championship this term after agreeing to move to The Sir Tom Finney Stadium.
Dixon becomes Rovers boss Gemma Donnelly’s first summer signing and the player could make an appearance in the club’s pre-season friendly at Brighouse Town this evening.
After completing the move to Rovers, Dixon said “I’m really excited. I can’t wait for pre-season to get going, to get the kit on and to get a ball at my feet.
“It’s a fresh start for me and it’s a great club to come to.”
Dixon offers new manager Donnelly plenty of versatility with the player able to operate in a full-back role, on the wing or in attack. The player has well over 50 FA Women’s Championship appearances to her name in a career which has seen her represent Doncaster Rovers Belles, Sheffield FC and Sheffield United. Dixon appeared in 11 of Sheffield United’s 20 league games last season as the club finished the campaign in fourth position.
Rovers now have 16 senior players under contract going into the new season with further new arrivals expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
