Former Sheffield United winger Pennock joins Birmingham City

Former Sheffield United winger Jade Pennock has completed a move to Barclays FA Women’s Super League club Birmingham City according to reports on the Blues’ official website.

The 28-year-old has put pen to paper on a one-year deal and she becomes new Blues boss Scott Booth’s first signing of the summer.

Pennock left Sheffield United at the end of last season upon the expiry of her contract at The Technique Stadium. The winger, who is known for her creativity and goalscoring, spent three years with The Blades after joining the club from South Yorkshire neighbours Doncaster Rovers Belles in summer 2018.

After joining Birmingham City, Pennock said “I’m glad to finally get it all sorted and excited to get going,

“For me, it is the challenge of playing at the next level. I’ve wanted to do it for a while and that’s what attracted me to the Club. I just want to get going and do well.

“As a player, I want to help the team as much as I can whether that be with assists or goals. It will be a challenge but I think it is one I am ready for – I don’t shy away from hard work.”

Other than a four-year spell in the United States, Pennock has spent the whole of her senior career in her home county of Yorkshire having represented Leeds and Harrogate Town prior to her time with The Belles and The Blades. It will be a case of fresh challenges both on and off the pitch for the player at Birmingham City this season.
