Leicester City have completed the signing of former Bristol City full-back Jemma Purfield according to reports on The Foxes’ official website.
The 24-year-old Beverley-born defender moves to the East Midlands club after just one season with Bristol City.
Purfield made 27 appearances for The Robins in all competitions last season. The defender was one of the shining lights in what was a hugely disappointing campaign for The Robins.
After leaving Bristol City at the end of her contract, Purfield was strongly linked with a move to newly-promoted Leicester City and she has today joined The Foxes on a free transfer.
After sealing her move to Leicester City, Purfield said “It feels amazing. I’ve been really excited about this. I think it’s a great opportunity and I just can’t wait to get started.
“Leicester’s team last year was talented, and they’ve got some great players and so I’m looking forward to playing with them.”
Purfield has become Leicester City boss Jonathan Morgan’s second signing of the summer transfer window. The defender joins former Manchester United attacker Jess Sigsworth at the club. Like Purfield, Sigsworth also became a free agent earlier this summer after being released by Manchester United at the end of the season.
