Manchester United have announced the signing of Norwegian international midfielder Vilde Bøe Risa on a two-year deal with the option of a further year.
The 26-year-old becomes The Red Devils’ first signing of the summer.
The move is thought to have been in the pipeline for some time with Bøe Risa having been linked with Manchester United for several months. The biggest hint was offered by the Norwegian Football Association last week when they listed the midfielder as a Manchester United player.
Bøe Risa moves to The Leigh Sports Village following a short spell with hometown club IL Sandviken. The player has previously played for Arna-Bjørnar and Göteborg FC.
After completing her move to Manchester United, Bøe Risa said “I am really looking forward to playing in the WSL and I want to help the team as much as I can in qualifying for the Champions League. I’m also excited to get to know my new team-mates and, of course, I hope I can see the fans in the stadium soon too.”
Bøe Risa was a Swedish Damallsvenskan title winner with Göteborg FC in 2020 while she will already be a Manchester United favourite after netting for her former club against Manchester City in last season’s UEFA Women’s Champions League.
