FAWSL stars Bruton, Godfrey, Follis and Wynne amongst summer signings at Charlton Athletic

Barclays FA Women’s Super League quartet Lauren Bruton, Hannah Godfrey, Emma Follis and Megan Wynne were amongst 21 squad players announced by Charlton Athletic this morning.

The Addicks have moved to a full-time operation over the summer with head coach Karen Hills and assistant Riteesh Mishra having been tasked with assembling a squad capable of mounting a challenge for promotion to the Barclays FA Women’s Super League.

The Addicks unveiled their 2021/2022 squad via a video posted on their official club Twitter account this morning. Eight members of this season’s squad had already been revealed but there were some surprises named amongst the other 13 players.

Former Reading attacker Bruton has moved to The Oakwood, as has former Aston Villa and Bristol City midfielders Follis and Wynne. Charlton Athletic boss Hills previously worked with the latter at former club Tottenham Hotspur. Reading youngster Kiera Skeels and Everton forward Elise Hughes have also moved to the club along with Scotland international defender Godfrey, a player who is rated very highly. Other notable additions include former Liverpool full-back Becky Jane and Brighton & Hove Albion academy products Hollie Olding and Beth Roe.

Charlton Athletic begin the new FA Women’s Championship season at Lewes on Sunday 29 August.
