Arsenal provide update on condition of injured midfielder Nobbs

Arsenal have today provided a brief update on the condition of injured midfielder Jordan Nobbs.

The 28-year-old was stretched off as The Gunners defeated London rivals Chelsea 2-1 in a pre-season friendly at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The player went into a 50-50 challenge with Chelsea’s Erin Cuthbert but came out badly.

Arsenal have today provided an update on the player’s condition via their official club website with Nobbs having undergone an initial medical assessment. At this stage, it is unknown whether the midfielder will miss The Gunners’ upcoming games in the UEFA Women’s Champions League and in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League with the club having simply indicated that Nobbs has damaged ligaments in her right ankle.

The next step of the process is understood to be an assessment with a specialist and at that point, Arsenal are more likely to be in a position to confirm a recovery timescale for Nobbs.

Arsenal’s pre-season friendly fixture against Chelsea at the weekend was part of ‘The Mind Series’ a series of men’s and women’s games including the two clubs and Tottenham Hotspur. The Gunners are scheduled to travel to Spurs on Sunday with Nobbs set to now miss that game. The recovery time for ankle ligament injuries can be anything from a low number of weeks to months depending on the severity and Arsenal will be hoping that Nobbs’ injury is a minor one.
