Former Arsenal defender Parker joins West Ham United

Former Arsenal defender Lucy Parker has completed a move to West Ham United according to reports on The Hammers’ official website.

The 22-year-old England youth international joins the East Londoners after recently returning to the UK following a five-year spell in the United States. Parker spent time with the University of California combining her football with her studies.

Prior to her American adventure, Parker spent 10 years in the academy at Arsenal. She won three Player of the Year awards and two FA Youth Cups with The Gunners.

After completing her move to West Ham United, Parker said “I’m excited to be joining the club.

“It’s good to be able to come back to England and play in the top division, I couldn’t ask for a better opportunity.

“The experience that I’ve had over in the States has been a good one, I’ve grown up away from football and it was a fantastic life experience.

“I grew up here, I’m English so this style of football is in my blood so I’m hoping to be able to adapt quickly.

“I had a good chat with Olli Harder, and I got really good vibes from him, I loved his energy, enthusiasm and the positivity I got from him – I can’t wait to get started here.”

Parker is the sixth new arrival at West Ham United this summer. Manager Harder has also added Tameka Yallop, Zaneta Wyne, Claudia Walker, Melissa Filis and Abbey-Leigh Stringer to his squad. The Hammers still look short on numbers therefore expect more business before the start of the new season.
