Birmingham City have completed the signing of experienced Danish left-back Cecilie Sandvej according to reports on the Blues’ official website.
The 31-year-old defender moves to the Midlands club following a two-year spell with French Division 1 Feminine side FC Fleury 91 and she has penned a two-year deal at St Andrew’s.
Sandvej is experienced across world football with the player having represented clubs in Denmark, Australia, the United States, Germany and France in her 12-year senior career to date.
After completing her move to Birmingham City, Sandvej said “From the past few years, the league has just got better and better, so I really wanted to go and try it out.
“I have experience from the Danish National team as well, so I have had games at a really high level and know how to play under pressure.”
The defender becomes new Birmingham City head coach Scott Booth’s sixth new signing of the summer following the recent additions of Jade Pennock, Louise Quinn, Sarah Ewens, Lucy Quinn and Libby Smith. It is thought that the Blues now have 13 players contracted to the club for the coming season.
Birmingham City begin the new Barclays FA Women’s Super League season at Tottenham Hotspur on the first weekend of September.
