Former Lewes midfielder Ellie Leek has completed a move to Blackburn Rovers according to reports on the club’s official website.
The 26-year-old joins Rovers on a free transfer after leaving former club Lewes at the end of last season.
Leek spent 16 months with The Rookettes in which she made 17 appearances in the FA Women’s Championship and scored one goal. The midfielder started for Lewes in their 1-0 FA Women’s Championship victory over Rovers at The Dripping Pan last season.
After completing her move to Rovers, Leek said “I’m really happy to be signing here for Rovers.
“The environment Gemma (Donnelly) has created with the players was something that was very appealing to me and I saw that as soon as I came in here.
“Playing still in a very competitive league, but with an environment that is well suited to me, is something I’m really excited about.”
Leek was at Bristol Academy as a teenager before spending four years in the United States at Auburn University. A spell with French club Le Havre followed before Leek returned to England to join Charlton Athletic. The player made just a couple of appearances for The Addicks before moving to Lewes.
The midfielder becomes Rovers boss Gemma Donnelly’s sixth signing of the summer transfer window.
